Aye Calypso

To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown

The Calypso was the first ship on which captain Jacques Cousteau and his crew were sailing the oceans to learn more about the life in the oceans. In 1975 John made the Emmy-winning TV-show 'An evening with John Denver'.

A visit to the Calypso was part of this show, as well as it was the inspiration of the song John has ended so many concerts with.
In june 1997 captain Jacques Cousteau past away at age of 87. We'll always treasure the lessons he taught us.

To sail on a dream, on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of the wild raging storms
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement, and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand
Aye Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us, the stories you tell!
Aye Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The man who have served you so long and so well
Hideeay - Dodleooo

Like the dolphin who guides you, you bring us beside you
To light up the darkness and show us the way
For though we are strangers in your silent world
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
To be true as the tide, and free as a windswell
Joyful and loving in letting it be

Aye Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us, the stories you tell!
Aye Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The man who have served you so long and so well
Hideeay - Dodleooo
